Health Care
We have a team of nurses and physicians who provide free health screening, teaching and treatment of major health issues in our community such as diabetics, hypertension and malaria.
MALARIA caused by mosquito bites is the leading cause of death among children between ages 1-7 years in the Gambia according to the department of public health of the Gambia. We provide over 5,000 mosquito nets annually to the needy and poor. If on an average, 3 kids share a mosquito net, therefore Glossary seafood and fishing company along with our sister companies saves over 15,000 potential lives annually.
HYPERTENSION is the leading cause of strokes in adults in Gambia according to the health department of the Gambia. Complications of hypertensions such as strokes, Heart failures, renal failures are the leading cause of death in adults in Gambia. Annually, we screen, detect and diagnosis new patient with hypertension through our health care professionals. Over 1,000 new cases of hypertension are diagnosis annually by our medical team.
DIABETES is the second leading cause of deaths in adults in Gambia. We provide free health screening for diabetics and also provide teaching, preventions and management of it.
EMPLOYMENT
We have over 250 employees year around of which 65% are women who work so hard to support their families and send their kids to school. If an average employee feeds a house hold of 5 individuals a day, therefore, Glossary Seafood and Fishing Company along with its sister companies feeds over 1,500 hungry mouths every day.
EDUCATION
Currently we sponsor up to 100 students with tuition and books. Most of the kids we sponsored are children with disabilities. We want to give hope to children of special needs that disability isn’t inability.
PROTECT OUR SEA
We feel obligated to protect our sea. Every last Sunday of each month, we mobilize the youths of each key fishing harbors to join us and help us keep our beaches clean and protect our natural resources. When it rains, no one goes to the beaches, its the dirt that we left behind that goes back into our seas. We also take this opportunity to teach the youths to stay away from crimes, drugs and so on.
